Examination of Drama Studies in Preschool Education Levels in Terms of Child Development
Abstract
It is known that drama studies in preschool education and training practices are very important for children's developmental periods. Drama, in a sense, refers to learning acquired by doing, experiencing and being an active participant. It is known that such learning is more permanent. It supports children's emotional development and enables them to exhibit a more balanced attitude. Since different characters are portrayed in drama studies carried out in the form of role playing, expressing different emotional states helps to understand others better as empathic skills. It also develops critical skills as developing new ideas and opinions.
Drama positively affects cooperation, more socialization and easier communication skills. When children take on the roles of various characters, they express themselves in different ways and at least show the courage and insight to listen to others. Drama encourages taking appropriate attitudes and developing alternatives in the face of different situations together with shared roles. Creative drama activities develop children's imagination. In essence, imagination is the design of the future. Because dreams are made for the future. If they are made for the past, there are regrets, regrets or satisfactions.
In this study, the effects of drama studies conducted during the preschool development period on children's developmental areas were examined. For this purpose, the studies conducted were scanned, and the expectations that were met or not met were analyzed and evaluated. The studies selected as the study group were evaluated in terms of their results and the generalizations reached were discussed again in terms of dependent and independent variables.
